23 Things - Week 3


Social Reading - This sounds good. Reading is usually quite a solitary occupation, but most of us do love to talk about what we are reading.

Thing No. 7 - Set up an account on Vision. Done.

Thing No. 8 - Create a list in Vision. Done. I just called my list Good Reads. This has been a winter with lots of storms and bad weather, which is good weather for reading. So, I included a few titles that I have read recently that took my attention.



Thing No. 9 - Share my Comments about a book in Vision. Done. I chose to comment on John Grisham's The Racketeer. I haven't read a Grisham book in quite some time, as a few of his books leave a lot to be desired. So my expectations of this one were not particularly high. But, I loved the Racketeer - it grabbed me from the very first page and carried my interest all the way through. The plot was clever and complex and would make a great movie. In fact, it is one of the best legal thrillers I have read in months.





Thing No. 10 - Follow a reader with similar interests on Vision - still to do.

23 Things and Counting

This is Week 2 of my 23 Things Training Session. This week was Twitter week - I resurrected an old Twitter account that I opened in 2010 for another training session, watched the Twitter video, and found a good website called Twitter for Dummies.

I found some library twitter accounts to follow - the Saint John Public Library and Halifax Public Libraries, and something called Reader's Den from the New York Public Library which offers book suggestions. And made my first tweet, or I should say, my first tweet since 2010. For all the exciting things I will tweet in the upcoming weeks, check out https://twitter.com/PattyC2010

Things 1&2

This is my very first blog post – ever. Sharing my ideas, experiences, thoughts and opinions in an online forum are all new to me, so it's not something I am entirely comfortable with.  This is my NB 23 blog –  the second of 23 things that I will be learning to do – so here goes. Things are always changing in the library world – today, technology drives many of the changes, and libraries are responding as we try to keep ourselves relevant in an even more rapidly changing world. It is an exciting time to work in a library, and I love every minute of it. So, now I am a library blogger -3 down, 20 to go.
